General Information

Title: Alleluia
Composer: Maggie Furtak

Number of voices: 6vv   Voicing: SSAATB
Genre: SacredMotet

Language: English
Instruments: A cappella

First published: 2013
Description: SATB except for the very last chord, which adds a little extra divisi. This could be sung as a quartet, just take out the doubled notes as necessary. Optional solos for tenor, soprano, and alto. Medium difficulty. There is some dissonance, but it is mainly approached step-wise, rather than by big interval leaps, so it shouldn't be too difficult. There are some 3-against-2 rhythms, but the tempo of the piece is slow enough that they shouldn't cause too much trouble either. Just remind your choir not to be lulled into a false sense of security by the easy tempo and to keep counting. There's no shame in writing in the counting if that reminds you to count. I do it all the time! If your group performs this piece, please let me know how you liked it. I'm always grateful for feedback. Could anything be marked more clearly? Was any section awkward, or much more difficult than the rest of the piece? What did you particularly enjoy? Thank you for your time and attention, Maggie Furtak, [email protected]
