Also heilig ist der Tag,
das ihn niemand mit loben erfüllen mag,
denn der einige Gottes Sohn,
der die helle überwand,
und den leidigen Teuffel darinnen band,
damit erlöst der Herr die Christenheit,
das war Christ selber. Kyrie eleison.

that no-one can praise it enough,
because God’s only Son,
vanquished hell,
and bound up the wretched \evil,
so that the Lord saved Christendom,
