The Baptism of the Lord is celebrated on Epiphany in the Eastern Church and reappeared as a separate feast for Jan. 13 relatively lately in the west. In the 1970 Catholic Graduale it begins Ordinary Time and usually falls on the Sunday following Jan. 6, unless Epiphany is transfered to Jan. 7 or 8, in which case it moves to Monday.
