The Feast of the Purification of the Virgin celebrated on February 2 is often called Candlemas after the custom of blessing the year's supply of candles before processing into the church. In 1970 it was renamed the Feast of the Presentation of Jesus at the Temple and in some Protestant churches is known as the Naming of Jesus, events likewise recorded in the Gospel of Luke 2:22-.
