Biography

Frederick Field Bullard was born in Boston, Massachusetts. He enrolled at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to study chemistry, but changed his plans to pursue music. He studied composition and organ with Josef Rheinberger in Munich, Germany, for four years, then settled in Boston as a teacher of composition and composer. For a time, he was music critic for the publication “Time and the Hour.” His compositions include a series of Easter and Christmas cantatas, part songs, pieces for glee clubs, songs, duets, anthems, church songs, and hymns. He died in Boston.
