English text
Mama’s gone a walkin’ this morning.
Ain’t no time around to hold her down.
And we all come together to wish her well;
So joy Missis Sadie! For you, to that sweet home are bound.
Well, my Mama used to stand in the fields of wheat;
Singing her praises in the noontime heat.
She’d lift up her hands with the tresses of gold,
And the glory of the Holy Father would unfold.
Oh Mama’s had a good life! Oh yes, the angels sing.
Mama’s gonna walk on and meet with the King.
Well, my Mama gave her heart like a little child
To the old, to the stubborn, to the hungry and wild.
There been no trav’llers didn’t know her name
And when they hit that road, they knew they’d never be the same.
Well, I can’t say that everything was always good
But to my Mama it was understood:
She’d say "I gave my life to my Saviour’s will
And when I die, to live in Heaven, well, He’ll have it still".
