Description: A folk hymn (Jackson 1952, no. 322). Words by Charles Wesley, 1745, Hymns for 1745, No. 15, with four stanzas, each 77. 447. 77. 447. Ingalls wrote music for each half stanza, (77. 447.), leading to eight stanzas in his composition. Ingalls has modified Wesley's first line slightly to "Head of the church triumphant."
