Latin text Hic est praecursor dilectus et lucerna lucens ante Dominum. Ipse enim est Ioannes qui viam Domino praeparavit in eremo. Sed et Agnum Dei demonstravit et illuminavit mentes hominum.

English translation  This is the well-beloved Fore-runner, a shining light before the Lord. For even this is John, who made straight in the desert an highway for our God And bare witness, saying Behold the Lamb of God! And lightened the minds of men.
