Biography
James Lively Gregory was born in Old Windsor, Berkshire, England. He trained at Trinity College, London, and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Organists (FRCO). He taught privately and taught music and singing at the Blue Coat School and the Grammar School. He was organist and choirmaster of Ware Parish Church, Hertfordshire, and conductor of the Ware Musical Society. He then was organist and choirmaster at All Saints’ Church, Hertford. He died in Hertford the night of 13 October 1915, a civilian casualty of a WWI bombing raid by an Imperial Navy Zeppelin.
