Died: 1956

Joseph William George Hathaway was born in Gloucestershire, England, studied at the Royal College of Music, and was a graduate of Oxford University. He was appointed a Fellow of the Royal College of Organists and became an examiner for the Royal Schools of Music. He was a Professor at the Royal College of Music and held a number of organ positions. He was known as an authority on Mendelsohn, authoring An Analysis of Mendelssohn’s Sonatas and An Analysis of Mendelssohn’s Organ Works–A Study of Their Structural Features.
