Nasce la gioia mia,
Ogni volta ch'io mir'il mio bel sole,
E la mia vit'è ria,
Qual'hor nol miro, perch'il sguard'è tale
Ch'ogni volta beato farmi suole.
O sol, alm'immortale,
Non t'asconder mai più, che certo veggio,
S'io non ti miro, io non poss'haver peggio.

English translation

My joy is born
every time I see my beautiful sun,
and my life is bitter
whenever I do not see it, for its glance is such
that it makes me blessed every time.
O sun, immortal soul,
do not hide yourself ever again, for I see for certain
that if I do not see you, I could have nothing worse.
