Original text and translations
The poem is clearly modelled on Petrarca's no. 237 in the Canzoniere, as three of the rhyme words are the same, the first stanza uses a very similar image, and some phrases in the subsequent stanzas are quite similar (Petrarca: cittadin de' boschi / here: citadin de chiusi valli; P.: bagnar l'erbe / h.: bagnar più fiori); also both poems refer to April.
