Latin text
O bone pastor, Francisce de Paula,
Lux Calabriae, virginitatis alumne et aroma Turoniae.
Tu, puritatis amator, praedicator, amplexator.
Sancte pacis mediator, sectator humilitatis,
Conservator puritatis, caritatis praedicator, executor veritatis.
Blanda tu fugiebas, molia semper horrebas,
Caelestia cogitabas, et terrena conculcabas
Te constantia praedicat, te, patientia decorat, abstinentia gubernat.
Et oratio sublevat tu, solamen, solatorum,
Consolamen miserorum confortamen.
Et fugamen superborum,
Tu fundator minimorum vitaeque patrum priscorum et multorum renovator,
Et multorum cumulator praemiorum
O “minime minimorum”
Recordare pupillorum
Nec oblitus sis tuorum salutis devotorum
Amen
English translation
O good shepherd, Francis of Paula,
Light of Calabria,
Fosterer of virginity,
Aroma of Turonia?
You, a lover of purity,
Preacher of chastity,
Friend to charity,
Holy mediator of peace,
Follower of humility,
Defender of purity,
You who were guided by the truth,
You fled from alluring things,
You shrank from luxury,
You pondered on holy thoughts,
You trampled on earthly things,
Constancy proclaims you,
Patience adorns you,
Abstinence governs you,
Your speech exalts you,
You are a solace to the lonely
A consolation to the wretched
A comfort to orphans
You, the founder of the Minims
Revivor of the life of the ancient fathers
And of many others
Collector of prizes
O “least of the Minims”
Remember the orphans
Do not forget your devoted followers.
Amen
