  • (Posted 2020-05-21)  CPDL #58730:
Editor: Mick Swithinbank (submitted 2020-05-21).   Score information: A4, 9 pages, 97 kB   Copyright: CPDL
Edition notes: As this is a high-clef work, this edition is transposed down a minor third. An editorial Quinta part is supplied, to complete it. In bars 66-67, Superius, the text needs adjusting so as to insert the word 'sum' after 'vobiscum'.

General Information

Title: Philippe qui videt me
Composer: Joannes Zacheus
Lyricist:

Number of voices: 5vv   Voicing: SATTB
Genre: SacredMotet

Language: Latin
Instruments: A cappella

First published: 1555 in Sacrarum cantionum … quinque et sex vocum, liber 2, no. 4
Description: Zacheus was a Franco-Flemish composer known to have been active between 1554 and 1569. As of May 2020, Wikipedia ascribes two songs to him, but does not mention any sacred works. However, Waelrant published this rather attractive motet under his name. The Quinta pars (which most probably must have had a C4 clef) is missing; the extant parts have the clefs G2, C2, C3, F3.

Philippe qui videt me,

videt et patrem meum,

Tanto tempore vobiscum sum,

et non cognovistis me,
