Biography

English Renaissance composer (ca. 1490 – ca. 1550), flourished 1540–1544/5. Barber was Master of the Choristers at Winchester College from around Christmas 1540 to 1542/3 when he was succeeded by Robert Moss. He was still alive in 1544/5 when the college paid him 20 shillings for some songs. Robert Barber II is an eighteenth-century composer.
