German text Singt, ihr lieben Christen all, laßt euch hörn mit großem Schall, habet Fried und Wohlgefall. Erschienen ist der heilge Christ, der Jungfraun Kind Maria. Gott ist heut ein Mensch geborn, wie das ist gesagt zuvorn durch Gabriel. Heuten er erschienen ist, der heilige Christ in Israel, von Maria säuberlich, elendiglich: Groß ist sein herrlicher Nam, Immanuel, wie das hat verkündt der Engel Gabriel.

English translation Sing, you dear Christians all, let your resounding voice be heard, peace and goodwill be unto you. For the holy Christ has appeared, the child of the virgin Mary. God is made man today as was foretold by Gabriel. Today he has appeared, the holy Christ in Israel, through Mary, undefiled yet unrefined: Great is his wonderful name, Immanuel, as was proclaimed by the angel Gabriel.
