    Winters long farewell;
Primroses springing,
    Deck the verdant lea,
Glad birds are singing
    On the hawthorn tree;
In mid-heaven shining,
    Joy the Sun doth bring,
All life combining
    Welcome in the Spring.
        Sweet Spring is coming—
        Coming o’er the wild;

        Like a fairy child.

Sweet Spring is coming—
    Coming through the dell;
Young bees are humming,
    Waiting the bluebell;
Buttercups golden
    Peep adown the vale;
Violets, un-folden,

Blithely the Cuckoo
