Talk:Ave Maria (Giacomo Fogliano)

This setting omits the word 'nostrae'. This is a pity as it is an interesting and 'different' setting from later ones by a galaxy of well-known composers.

I don't see a place for changing the underlay to include the missing word. Also it doesn't seem practical to stop early and so remove the final chunk of text (as, for example, in the Arcadelt-Dietsch setting).

As I said, a pity, because I don't think it is usable liturgically as it stands (though my Latin is 40 years rusty !).

Here is my suggestion: replace the first of the two amen with the nostrae. Musically it seems to work well, as the first amen sounds very much a continuation of the previous line, while the second amen is sung homophonically. —Carlos Email.gif 21:19, 12 April 2010 (UTC)
