English text
The blossom so pleasing, at summer's gay call,
Must languish at first, and afterwards fall;
But behind it the fruit, its successor shall rise,
By nature disrob'd of its beauteous disguise.
So Celia when youth, that gay blossom, is o'er,
By her virtues improv'd shall engage me the more;
Shall recall ev'ry beauty that brighten'd her prime,
When her merit is ripen'd by love and by time.
