Vn jour l'amant et l'amye
Sous vn buisson j'ay trouué
Qui jouoyent à l'endormye
Au beau jeu tant esprouué.
A couuert sous le vert
L'amant jouet par nature
Et l'amye sa partie
Tenoit tres bonne mesure.

Sous la verde couuerture
Le Rossignol j'escoutois
Qui chantoit a l'auenture
Le dessus à haulte voix.
Le pinçon en chanson
Par deuoir faisoit homage:
La linote sur la mote
Aux amans disoit courage.

German.png German translation

Einst auf Liebsten und Geliebte
Im Gebüsch mein Auge fiel,
Wie das Paar, als schlief' es, übte
Jenes wohlerprobte Spiel.
Gut versteckt,Laubbedeckt,
Gab der Bursch sich hin dem Spaße,
Tat das Seine,und die Kleine
Tat's ihm gleich im rechten Maße.

In des Waldes grünen Hallen
Hört' ich da die Nachtigall,
Zu dem, was da vorgefallen,
Gab sie laut den Widerhall.
Auch der Fink sang gar flink,
Seine Widmung anzubringen;
Und die Lerche auf dem Pferche
Wünscht dem Paar ein gut' Gelingen.

One day I found a lover
and his lass under a bush
Playing until sleep
in the highly prized game.
Hidden in the greenery, the lover
did what came naturally,
And his girl
acquitted herself well.

I heard a nightingale
within the bush
Loudly singing
of the activity below.
The finch must needs
give credit in song,
And the lark on top of the bush
to the lovers said "Courage".
