Biography The Minnesänger Wizlaw "the younger" whose 14 songs and 13 Sprüche are preserved in the Jena Ms. is presumed to be Wizlaw III, Prince of Rügen, even though the poems are in a variety of Middle High (rather than Low) German; doubts have been raised since the 1970's. An engaging biography can be found in Wesley Thomas, Barbara Garvey Seagrave: The Songs Of The Minnesinger, Prince Wizlaw Of Rügen (Chapel Hill, The University of North Carolina 1967).
