Latin text Magnus inter magnos, exiguus inter parvos, illustris inter nobiles, modicus inter ignobiles, omnibus denique omnia factus: erat enim vir Dei Norbertus, aspectu hilaris, vultu serenus, sermone facundissimus, conversatione placidus, convictu affabilis.

English translation Great among the great, small among the small, illustrious among the noble, modest among the ignoble, in short, he was made all things to all: for he was a man of God, Norbert, cheerful in appearance, serene in countenance, most eloquent in speech, gentle in manner of life, and affable in companionship.
