Latin.png Latin text

Anima mea liquefacta est ut dilectus meus; quaesivi et non inveni illum, vocavi et non respondit mihi.
Invenerunt me custodes civitatis, percusserunt me et vulneraverunt me; tulerunt pallium meum custodes murorum.
Filiae Jerusalem, nuntiate dilecto quia amore langueo.

English.png English translation by Edward Tambling

My soul melted as my loved one [spoke]; I sought him and I did not find him; I called and he did not answer me.
The watchmen of the city found me; they beat me and wounded me. The guardians of the walls took my cloak from me.
Daughters of Jerusalem, tell my beloved that I languish for love.
