Life

Born: 1634 or 1635, from age (65) on death certificate

Died: 16 January 1700

Biography Draghi was a singer at S Antonio, Padua (soprano 1645, contralto 1648, bass 1649-51) and at Accademia della Morte, Ferrara (1652-57) before settling in Vienna in 1658. Engaged as a bass with the imperial Kapelle, in 1661 he began to work as a librettist, composing his own first opera La Mascherata in 1666 and being appointed Kapellmeister in 1669. It is unclear whether he was brother to Giovanni Battista Draghi who had a career in London..
