Swedish text
I Januari månad, Gutår!
Så köpte jag mig en väst drap d'or;
sen köpte jag i stakens gränd
En råck nyss vänd;
Och uti martii månad, Cousin
Så köpte jag, oändligt fin,
En Nattråck af pärlfärgadt satin,
Slå i mer vin.
Hurra! från Mars till Maj, kära vän,
Så hade jag ingen fyrk mer igen,
Och hvarken Byxor, Råck eller Skor.
Drick, drick, drick, drick min Bror.
Från Junii, Julii, så till August,
Intill September söt och förtjust,
Så satt jag naken, full och ful.
Och så kom Jul.
English translation
In January I did buy
a waistcoat of golden
cloth and a newly
turned coat.
and in March I did buy
a very beautiful night-coat
of satin in the color
of mother of pearls.
But from March to May
I was without money
and had to sell my trousers,
my coat and my shoes.
Then from June to August
and into September
I was sitting naked, drunk and ugly.
And then came Christmas.
