This category is for Mass propers or other items specific to the Midnight Mass or First Mass of Christmas, also called the Shepherd's Mass. It traditionally begins at midnight, but many protestant churches have a 'Midnight Mass' that finishes at the stroke of twelve (See also Christmas Eve). The propers were unchanged by the 2nd Vatican Council:
