Votive antiphons are sung without a Psalm at the end of the Divine Office, especially Compline. The Council of Trent specified 4 Marian antiphons, Alma Redemptoris Mater starting with Advent, Ave Regina caelorum from Candlemas, Regina caeli for Eastertide, and Salve Regina after Pentecost. The 1975 Liturgy of the Hours makes the first two optional.
