Non pianger più se m‘ami, e ti consola,
Ch‘infinita è la schiera
De gl‘infelici amanti;
Vive ben altr‘in pianti
Si come tu, mio core.
Ogni ferita ha seco il suo dolore,
Ne se‘ tu solo a lagrimar d‘amore.

Ach, meine süße Seele,
weine nicht mehr, wenn du mich liebst, und tröste dich,
dass unendlich ist die Schar
der unglücklich Liebenden;
es leben wohl auch andre im Kummer,
so wie du, mein Herz.
Jede Verwundete trägt ihren Schmerz mit sich,
du bist nicht allein, wenn du aus Liebe weinst.

don‘t weep any more, if you love me, and console yourself,
because infinite is the number
of unlucky lovers;
others as well live in sorrow,
