Der Jonas kehrt im Walfisch ein;
das muss ein sauber Wirthshaus sein!
Salzwasser gibt es da statt Wein,
dabei soll Einer singen!

in seinem Bauche tanzen.

Im Walfisch, wo der Jonas war,
stockmäuschenstill das ganze Jahr!
Solch Wasserfisch, das ist doch klar,
muss allzeit stille schweigen.
Ei Sapperment, dem "weißen Schwan"
dem hört ihr meilenweit schon an,
was man Plaisir drin haben kann
an Sang und Flöt' und Geigen.

Der Jonas ein Prophete war,
darum er denn auch offenbar
logieren konnt' ohn viel Gefahr
in solchem Wasserschanke.
Jedweder gehe seine Bahn;

there's not a sign of whale bone, there,
In that huge place there's room to spare
To dance until you're weary there's room to spare
To dance until you're weary.

But in "The Whale" that hostel drear,
No sound is heard the livelong year;
Such water fish it is quite clear,
Must needs be ever silent.
But from afar "The White Swan" sends,
Sounds wafted on the Summer breeze,
And lures us to sweet pleasures there
With notes of viol, song, and glee.
That Jonah was a prophet too
