Ella mi prese a dir
Caro mi‘ amor, dolce mio fin,
Quando ritornerast‘ a me?
Ella rispose: torne doman matin.
Ella mi prese a dir
Caro mi‘ amor dolce mio fin,
O dolc‘amor mio fin.

L‘altra mattina e do ch‘a me levai
Ella mi prese a dir
Che sei sta tard‘ amor mio fin
Quando ritornerast‘ a me
Ella rispose torne due volte il dì
Ella mi prese a dir
ch‘a ve ne priego sia de sì

And I got up one fine morning,
only to go to the garden,
and I met a pretty girl,
which I kissed on her sweet mouth.
She began to say:
“My dear love, my sweet fine,
when would you return to me?”
She added:”Return tomorrow morning.”
She began to say:
“My dear love, my sweet fine,
o my sweet fine love.”

The next morning, when I got up
only to return to the garden,
this girl I had left there yesterday
was awaiting me outside the garden.
She began to say:
“You are late, my fine love,
when would you return to me?”
She added: “Come twice a day!”
She began to say:
“What I beg from you is: ‘Yes,
come twice a day.'”
