1.
boven aardse benevelde landen,
Alleluia moet mijn ziele zingen.

zonder nood, zonder angst, zonder strijden,
Alleluia daar juichen wij allen,

3.
'k Heb gehoord van de sneeuwwit gewaden,
en van gouden, ja schitt'rende kronen,
'k heb gehoord Gods geslacht zal daar wonen,
Alleluia 't doet mijn geest verheugen,

English.png English translation

1.
I have heard of a city above the clouds
above earth's misted lands,
I have heard of the sunlit beaches,
and there above is my home.
Alleluia, my soul must sing.
alleluia, I journey to that city,
although my way here is sometimes difficult,
it is going upwards and going home.

2.
I have heard of a city without tears,
without need, without anguish, without conflict,
where I never more will be ill,
and I know that I will be there one day.
Alleluia, there we all rejoice,
alleluia, and doubt disappears,
where I never again will trip or fall,
I am home, I am home with my Lord.

3.
I have heard of the snow-white garments,
and of golden, yes glittering crowns,
I have heard God's sons and daughters will live there,
and my wish is to be there also.
Alleluia, it makes my soul rejoice.
I hear singing of heavenly joy,
this loosens all my earthly bonds,
and my wish is to be there also.
