Es wolt ein Jeger iagen vor jhenem holtz
was begegnet jm auff der heyden
drey frewlein hubsche und stoltz.

Das ein das hieß Margretlin,
das ander Visele,
das dritt das hat kein Namen,
des Jägers will es sein.

Er nahm sie bei der Mitte,
da sie am schwuanksten was,
schäng's hinter sich zurücke
wohl auf sein hohes Roß.

Er führt sie gar behende
durch das grüne Gras,
der grünen Heid ein Ende
'gen Würzburg auf das Schloß.

A hunter went hunting in the woods.
Whom did he meet on the moors?
Three good looking maidens.
