in Moderne's edition the 'harps' are hanging on "sauges vers" iso "saules verts"; and the musical indication ‘Triollet’ is placed below the first notes of the second part. To correct the text, I used a text edition of Marot's Psalms, which is almost identical to this one, the Antwerp-edition of 1541 (De Gois), of which a copy appeared in Lyon in 1542 (Etienne Dolet) and which also circulated in manuscript form. "Mais desormais" (bar75-76) can also be considered an error. All other known editions read: "Or toutes foys", which gives better meaning. In some lines this version differs intrinsically from the official version, published by Marot in 1541 (Paris, Roffet).}}

Description: First polyphonic setting of a Psalm versification by Clément Marot. Apparently Abel (of whom nothing is known except this composition) supplied the printer with a hard to read original. This explains some oddities in the text. To name only the two most conspicuous phenomena: in Moderne's edition the 'harps' are hanging on "sauges vers" iso "saules verts"; and the musical indication ‘Triollet’ is placed below the first notes of the second part. To correct the text, I used a text edition of Marot's Psalms, which is almost identical to this one, the Antwerp-edition of 1541 (De Gois), of which a copy appeared in Lyon in 1542 (Etienne Dolet) and which also circulated in manuscript form. "Mais desormais" (bar75-76) can also be considered an error. All other known editions read: "Or toutes foys", which gives better meaning. In some lines this version differs intrinsically from the official version, published by Marot in 1541 (Paris, Roffet).
