General Information

Title: Gloria, Old Hall 5
Composer: Anonymous
Number of voices: 3vv   Voicing: ATT
Genre: SacredMass fragment

Language: Latin
Instruments: A cappella

Manuscript c. 1421 in the Old Hall Manuscript, no. 5
Description: A fragmentary setting of the Gloria from the Mass Ordinary. Text ends at the first Qui tollis invocation. Alternative cadence figurations towards the end of the fragment in the middle part are marked in red ink. These are not evidence of more than one-to-a-part singing, however, as the individual lines create uncharacteristic dissonance when sung together.
