Edition notes: The original order of parts is Tenor - Alto - Air - [Bass]: the alto part is printed in the treble clef an octave above sounding pitch in the source. Only the first verse of the text is given in the source: selected subsequent verses have been added editorially. The part given here as an alto part, from the fourth crotchet of bar 12 to the minim in bar 16 inclusive, is printed in the source on the tenor stave, marked 'Treb', and followed by the marking 'Ten' over the last crotchet of bar 16 to mark the resumption of the tenor part.
