Latin text 3:1  In lectulo [meo] per noctes, quaesivi quem diligit anima mea: nec respondit mihi. 3:2  Surgam et circuibo civitatem: per vicos et plateas quaeram quem diligit anima mea.

English translation 3:1  By night in bed I sought him whom my soul loveth: and he answered me. 3:2  I will rise now, and go about the city in the streets, and in the broad ways I will seek him whom my soul loveth.
