Life
Born: 1457 or 1458
Died: before 1 August 1505
The son of a town trumpeter of Ghent, Obrecht might have studied with Antoine Busnoys; he was employed at Bergen-op-Zoon (1480-84), Cambrai (1484), Bruges (1485), Antwerp (1492, Bruges again (1498), and Ferrara (1504), where he died of plague.
