Life

Born: 26 March 1748, Milton, Massachusetts

Died: 27 August 1835, Milton, Massachusetts

Biography

American singer, music teacher, and composer. Son of Nathaniel Babcock (1719-1760) and Abigail Pitcher (1720-1797), he lived in Braintree and nearby Quincy, then later in Milton. He fought with the Massachusetts Militia during the Revolutionary War. Lemuel's family was related by marriage to the families of Jacob French and William Billings. Lemuel Babcock was the older distant cousin of Samuel Babcock.
