Description: Words by Nahum Tate and Nicholas Brady, 1698, New Version, paraphrase of Psalm 13, as revised by Francis Hopkinson, 1767. Tate and Brady's paraphrase has six common meter (86. 86) stanzas; Hopkinson revised this to three stanzas of meter 66. 66. D. Pilsbury used the first half of the first of Hopkinson's stanzas in his composition.
