Italian text
Ninfe leggiadre e belle,
come per boschi gite senza scorta
Per via fallace e torta?
Noi della Dea triforme1
Per dritt’e bel sentier seguiamo l’orme.
Deh cangiate pensier, seguite Amore,
ch’al mondo apporta sua lucente face,
Gioia, salute e pace.
Anzi pianti e sospir, tormenti e morte
L’hamo celar, celar mortal veleno.
Noi d’amor cantaremla gloria in tanto.

Oh besinnt euch, folgt Amor,

English translation
Pretty and beautiful nymphs,
how do you follow through the woods without escort
a treacherous and tortuous way?
We follow the steps of the triform goddess
on a straight and comfortable path.
Oh change your mind, follow Amor,
who brings to the world his flaming torch,
joy, salvation and peace
In fact, tears and laments, pains and dying
always make war in the amorous court
against the heart.
You have not yet ecperienced, how
pleasant be Amor’s fire (wound),
sweet the fame of the golden light.
You are wrong, shepherds,
for false and beguiling are these loves,
which under the bait, in the sweet cover (?)
hide the hook, hide the mortal poison.
Then, if you please, in this pleasant place,
you may select a song in praise of Delia,
and we will sing the the glory of love.
