- CPDL #24130: Fayr-olu.pdf
- Editor: John Hetland (submitted 2011-08-09). Score information: Letter, 5 pages, 312 kB Copyright: CPDL
- Edition notes: From British Museum Additional Manuscripts 4911. Our sources: music from Collected Works, ed. Edwin B. Warren; text from the same editor's Choral Art Edition, Summy, 1956. The notation here is a fourth higher than the original, with note values halved. Translation, text underlay and musica ficta by John Hetland and The Renaissance Street Singers.
- Alterations: Fayrfax has no time signature until our bar 11; the opening section, with the text "O lux, beata Trinitas," is 17 semibreves long and ends with a repeat sign. As the Sarum hymn has the same melody for the first two lines, we applied the second line to the repeat. Unable to duplicate the metric treatment, we had to begin with time signatures and halve the value of the fermata note in bars 5 and 10.
- Emendation: In the alto, bar 67, we added the last note to fill otherwise empty space.
