General Information

Title: O sanctissime præsul
Composer: Anonymous

Number of voices: 3vv   Voicing: ATT

Genre: SacredMotet

Language: Latin
Instruments: unknown

Published:

Description: Transcribed from the Trent manuscript tr92. The keys, notes' values, accidentals and colourings are as in the manuscript. The initial time signature is missing: the “tempus perfectum” has been assumed from the context and the perfect notes and rests have been dotted. The text underlay within brackets is editorial. The Tenor has only text the incipit of an antiphon of S. Nicolaus, its full text is given in the Text and Translation section. The notes' values within the "ligaturæ" are as follows: the left upstemmed notes are semibreves - the unstemmed notes are breves – the right downstemmed notes are longæ. The “musica ficta” suggestions are in the MIDI and MusicXML files.

Ex missa S. Donatiani:

O sanctissime præsul Christi Donatiane
angelorum choris ascripte
et electorum Dei gaudiis addicte
defende nos continua intercessione

Ab hostili animarum et corporum impugnatione

Exaudi preces coram te fusas
et suscipe vota ad te suspirantia

Antifona S. Nicolai (Tenor):

O Christi pietas omni prosequenda laude
qui sui famuli merita longe
lateque declarat nam ex tumba ejus
oleum manat cunctosque languidos sanat
