<poem>
1. Silence is a way of holding
seed form God until it roots,
welcoming, beneath the surface,
life to fill the rising shoots.

2. Jesus brought concern for people,
ailing, anguished, trodden, crushed,
and to their surprise and wonder
often left them healed and hushed --

3. Healed of wounds and soul-abrasions
where uncaring feet had trod;
hushed to savor and consider,
inwardly, the Gift of God.

4. Silence is a way of holding
seed form God until it roots,
welcoming, beneath the surface,
life to fill the rising shoots.
</poem>
