Spelling inconsistency: Hortum vs. Ortum
| Help |
I usually see it spelled Hortum rather than Ortum (including other scores on CPDL). If both are correct, we should have a redirect so people can find it under either spelling. Otherwise, we should fix the spelling. |
- There is no 'H' in Latin. The graphic was adopted from Greek, where it represents a vowel, rather than a consonant. The same goes for J, as you'll find Jerusalem next to Ierusalem. Trying to get Latin spelling consistent is a daunting task, comparable to what Dave is doing to Dowland's English currently. I'd suggest leaving it as it is, with possibly a redirect leaving both options possible. joachim 17:11, 11 August 2008 (PDT)
