Giving to the form the capability to automatically detect a new file type is more complex: it requires to modify the ChoralWiki extension named UploadExtraHandler, and it requires some php programming skills. :Hi Richard. This is an interesting notation system! Also interesting that the acronym is ascending notes. I couldn't find an available icon on [https://gregorio-project.github.io/index.html The Gregorio site] or [https://gregorio-project.github.io/gabc/index.html GABC] -- except the little icon on my browser's tab. I don't know how to get at that. If you are part of the Google Group, could you ask if they have an icon? Otherwise I could try to build one. — [[User:BarryJ|Barry Johnston]] [[User talk:BarryJ|(talk)]] 21:16, 23 November 2020 (UTC)

Revision as of 21:31, 23 November 2020

All the icons in this template are linked to the "How do I download files" help page. For example:

{{filepath:Error.gif}} = '''SCORE ERROR'''   {{SERVER}}/index.php/Help:How_do_I_download_files%3F

Is this intentional? I'm not sure it makes sense for all icons.

Max, I think Raf did this ages ago in response to some emails he got asking why the the links weren't working. People were confusing the actual score icons next to the CPDL # etc with the ones in the legend box. --Bobnotts talk 12:33, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
Wouldn't it make more sense for them to link to the appropriate pages: for example Choralwiki:LilyPond? Richard Mix (talk) 21:33, 24 February 2017 (UTC)
Are you speaking of the icons in the Legend, or on the {{Legend}} page? The new legend, about to be implemented, has no links attached to the icons in either place (except Help, of course). — Barry Johnston (talk) 02:17, 25 February 2017 (UTC)

"Template & Code"

I'm not sure whether the icon template arguments were meant to be identical to file extensions and have gotten a little bit out of date, or whether another column is needed: I had to resort to Google to make a guess at what to replace {{pdf}} with for CPDL no 55144, a .musx type file. Richard Mix (talk) 21:47, 17 September 2019 (UTC)

You're right, the table needs another column, which I have added. CPDL 55144 should be coded F14 or F15, but I can't determine which. — Barry Johnston (talk) 02:10, 18 September 2019 (UTC)
Thanks, looks good, and made it very easy for me to figure out what just went wrong at Christus, Op. 97 (Felix Mendelssohn) (the add-edition form wouldn't accept a blank in the pdf field). Since xml is a 'disapproved' format though, I wonder if the icon & its code should change to mxl? Richard Mix (talk) 21:51, 1 November 2019 (UTC)

Gregorio GABC / other

I made a page ChoralWiki:Gregorio and guessed Media:Dal ciel venne messo novello might link (with or without .txt extention?) to File: Dal ciel venne messo novello , perhaps with an "other" icon. When I look at File: pages with the edit tab though I realize I'm out of my depth. Can I do things by hand, or must GABC be added to the AddWorkForm menu? Richard Mix (talk) 22:31, 28 October 2020 (UTC)

Hi Richard! If I understood it correctly, you need to add this new file type GABC, right? After some research I found that GABC files are plain text files, but they have their own file extension (.gabc) that needs to be added to the AddWorkForm menu AND to the list of accepted file types in Special:Upload in order to make them acceptable by CPDL. A customized icon can be added after that, if desired. I think I still remember how to change the Upload form, but have no idea how to edit the current AddWork system... —Carlos (talk) 22:07, 21 November 2020 (UTC)
Hi Carlos! That would be great; in the meantime I've parked some code on Talk:Dal ciel venne messo novello (Anonymous). Richard Mix (talk) 22:58, 22 November 2020 (UTC)
