Description: First published in Pilsbury's The United States Sacred Harmony, 1799, p. 181. Words by Nahum Tate and Nicholas Brady, 1698, New Version, amended by Francis Hopkinson, 1767. These are paraphrases of Psalm 13. Tate and Brady have six stanzas of Common Meter (86. 86); Hopkinson has rewritten this to three stanzas with eight lines of six syllables each (66. 66. D). Pilsbury used half of one of Hopkinson's stanzas in his composition.
