Dutch text Diep geschokt, trok de koning zich terug in de bovenkamer van het poortgebouw; wenend liep hij op en neer, terwijl hij bleef roepen: Absalom, mijn zoon! Ach, was ik maar in jouw plaats gestorven!

English translation And the king was much moved, and went up to the chamber over the gate, and wept: and as he went, thus he said, O my son Absalom! Would God I had died for thee! (KJV, 2 Samuel 18:33)
