English text
Burst forth my soul, in paeans loud,
rejoice, rejoice, Lift up thy voice,
exalt the Lord thy God above the skies
For in a wondrous wise, Salvation wilt thou see.
O bless the Lord for he hath been my friend
Nor end hath placed upon His love outpoured.
O bless the Lord, ye nations, sound his name, praise Him,
O sun and moon: ye lightnigs flame His glory from the skies;
Ye heavens, tell the splendor of His works through vale and dell
my soul doth magnify the Lord
Rejoice in the Lord.
Yet from the depths I cry,
The depths of my iniquity and shame.
For I have sinned against my friend,
and scarce dare raise my eyes to Him
who called me fried, nor say his name.
Lift up my heart,
For He who died that thou mightst live
Loves to forgive the child that strays away
If thou but seek his grace,
He will not say thee nay
Nor turn from thee in wrath His face away.
The Cross shall raise me up,
I shall not shun the bitter cup
the thorny way that all who sin must walk,
Nor bring to naught His love.
But I will trust in Him, and will not fear.
For He shall cheer my sorrowing heart and take away all care.
And I shall have a part in His supernal love,
In love supernal will i share.
