Cando la bun caval sente'l trumbetta,
 sunar sunar trun trun trun trun trun trun
 al arme alza la testa,
 scurlando'l crin, scurlando'l crin
 Per far so botte, como fa'l tempesta,
 sbruffando'l naso el bucca, fa'l zuetta,
 De chà de là, De chà de là,
 Saltando sta in aspetto de scundrari,
 E chi s'atacca, la fa sospirari.

Wenn das gute Pferd die Trompete hört,
die tönt: trun...
erhebt es das Haupt zum Kampf,
es schüttelt die Mähne,
stampft wie ein Sturm,
schnaubt durch Nase und Maul, "kokettiert"
hierhin und dorthin,
springt umher, als ob es sich verstecken wolle,
und wer es angreift, den macht es leiden.
