Ce mois de may sur la rousee
jouer irons pour cueillir verd,
m'amy' et moy sur la ramee
regardant la feuil' a l'envers,
puis s'elle craint le descouvert
des genoux sentant la froidure,
par moy seront ilz recouvers,
mais je seray la couverture.

English.png English translation

Upon the dew this month of May
We shall gather branches green
And lie upon the sward this day –
The living leaves shall be our screen.
Then as we take our pleasures there
Perchance my love may feel the cold
Upon her knees – maybe also elsewhere –
But in my arms I shall her warmly hold.
